Bead wire is φ1mm～φ2mm high carbon steel with the property of high strength and high elasticity. The wire is coated for adherence to rubber and used as reinforcement of the interior tire rim.
The connection point between the tire and rim is commonly known as the ‘bead.’ Although looking at a tire from the outside, it appears to be made only of rubber. However, wire is used throughout the tire construction including the bead, belt, and carcass. Bead wire plays a significant role in the stability and safety of the tire by fastening to the wheel and retaining the whole tire’s shape.
